Description

I've restarted working on my playing card deck called “The Gamblers”!

The Joker, unlike the other characters, is more of a personification of fate then a player herself. She is an otherworldly force who both smiles and frowns upon our gamblers.

The other finished card designs:
Jack Spades
Rose - Queen of Hearts
Baron - King of Hearts


The card designs incorporate elements from traditional playing cards as well as characteristics said to belong to the different suits or ‘houses’.

I will be posting the designs slowly as I progress through the characters. Up next are the Jack of Hearts and the Ace of Spades.

I'm undecided as to Kickstart the project next year…

I can't help but think to the theater character Pierrot, or Pedrolino (in Italian), from the commedia dell'arte. As well of course, with the Venitian masks.

Not sure if you tapped directly into this source, but I join up with these elements.
