My partner has always wanted me to get my “Lucky Spades” pin up printed on a deck. But I haven’t been able to find a place locally that would print a single custom deck.
So for his birthday this year I decided to try to make him one myself! I reworked my original design to work in black and white like a stencil with as few floating (unattached) pieces as possible and I then vectorized the image. I purchased Blank 8" deck online to use as a base because I really like the look of black designs straight on to the timber.
I received for Christmas an AMAZING Silhouette Cameo machine which I used to cut the design out of blackboard vinyl. The blackboard vinyl worked so well! It is thicker then normal vinyl with a slight texture. It was also really inexpensive
I didn’t take any progress photos unfortunately I think I was pretty ambitious to start with such a complicated design. I’m still in awe of how detailed the Silhouette can cut! They vinyl came out of the cutter as a complete sheet, just cut through. I then applied the sheet to the deck. It then took me over an hour to pick out all of the “white” pieces of the design!
I’m really happy with the result! And James LOVES it!
